Top 20 Albums of 2011

Since I didn’t actually listen to hundreds of albums from this year during the year they were released (I’ll probably pick up many from 2011 in later years, as I’ve spent most of this year picking up albums from other years)

1. Mastodon – The Hunter
2. Machine Head – Unto The Locust
3. Anthrax – Worship Music
4. Architects – The Here And Now
5. Red Fang – Murder The Mountains
6. Amplifier – The Octopus
7. Five Finger Death Punch – American Capitalist
8. Megadeth – Th1rt3en
9. Black Tusk – Set The Dial
10. Devildriver – Beast
11. Black Country Communion – 2
12. Chimaira – The Age Of Hell
13. Trivium – In Waves
14. Jasta – Jasta
15. Arctic Monkeys – Suck It And See
16. Radiohead – The King Of Limbs
17. Rise To Remain – City Of Vultures
18. The Grand Astoria – Omnipresence
19. Amon Amarth – Surtur Rising
20. The Defiled – Grave Times

…and I didn’t make it to beyond 20 albums new studio albums, I got exactly 20 it seems. I did get Anvil’s 2011 compilation Monument Of Metal and Black Country Communion’s 2011 Blu Ray Live Over Europe, but they wouldn’t really fit the list.
Other things from this year that I will pick up include Limp Bizkit, Opeth and Sepultura’s albums, maybe Dream Theatre if I finally give them a fair chance and potentially even stuff from La Dispute, Touche Amore, Letlive and Lower Than Atlantis if I end up getting into them through constant exposure at the Gill & Beez facebook page/Metal Hammer and Rock Sound podcasts.

Additonally; My Top 30 Albums that I got in 2011, but which aren’t from 2011 include:

Rishloo’s three albums
The four Pepper Keenan era Corrosion Of Conformity Albums
Monster Magnets 2nd-6th albums
Devildriver’s The Last Kind Words
Dio’s 2nd-4th albums
Rainbow’s first three albums
Ozzy’s first eight solo albums
Primevil’s only album
Sixty Watt Shaman’s Reason To Live
Fu Manchu’s California Crossing.
